Los Angeles Lenny
please enlighten me
I think a couple of things, Lenny.
One, Demoff attempts to sign the players as requested by Snead and McVay. But with an eye towards the generally accepted player’s value. Example, Watkins was not judged to be worth anywhere near the $16 million that the Chiefs were willing to pay, so they made the decision to let him walk. Good call, don’t you think?
Two, assuming that both S&M want a player signed or extended, Demoff still must deal with the other side. IOW, if AD and his agent refuse to sign a clean extension (no opt out clause) at a figure that halfway makes sense, then Demoff’s hands are tied. The Rams are hardly gonna be held hostage when they have all the leverage and when time is on their side. Again, very good cal, IMO.
A good exec has to decide what’s in the long term best interests of his team. I think Demof is a VERY good exec, despite the fact that he doesn’t do what you would want him to.
I think your frustration is directed at the wrong people. Your frustration is very real to you, but it’s still misdirected. IMO, of course.
