Basically Cooks is a football player......He can play and produce in multiple formations and do whatever you ask him to do.
IMHO.....Cooks is exactly who we wanted Tavon Austin to be when we drafted #11........In the NFL, you just never know what you get when you draft a player.
To me he's not Tavon. Tavon was actually (along with everything else) a runner out of the backfield. They never mention Cooks doing that. In terms of what they expected from Tavon, whatever that was in 2013, it had changed by 2014. In 2014 they figured out what he was---a WR/RB hybrid who could do a lot of both things (running and receiving) but was not really a pure version of either one. And btw as a runner Tavon did a lot more than jet sweeps and reverses. ,
Which worked. Tavon was productive.
Cooks in contrast is a real receiver. But he has none of the RB stuff in him. From 2014-2015, when they used TA right, he had 88 rushes for 6 TDs. We won't see anything like that from Cooks.
But then Cooks is a receiver and can do more in that role than Tavon could.
I don't see them as equivalent and I don't see Tavon as a Cooks wannabe...I see them as entirely different animals.
To me the mistake people often make with Tavon was to assume he was a receiver and to be judged as one. I was saying before they drafted him that he wasn't that and should not be judged as that.
