Goff is doing very well, but he’s not a top 10 QB just yet. And I think that’s fair.
Too bad, but he and the media were not intelligent enough to realize that a seven game sample size is simply not adequate to make a well informed judgement about an athlete.
The rush to stupidity was a product of contemporary culture and the fact that it emphasizes assertion over content. That encourages big chested bozos like Curley to spew mindlessness in an attempt to get information out first.
The result is what we saw and heard most of last season from the media: a lot of baffled looks, stammering, or simple silence.
Curley is still trying to redeem the embarrasment of last season however he can, but his deception is at an end.
He is just a bad journalist.
Pretty much.....
I remember talking to Lindsey Theiry last year at camp and asking her why she thought Goff wasn't showing anything in camp? She really had no answer.... it was just based on her bias from the previous year. Nice girl, but clueless when it comes to actually trying to scout a QB in training camp. Most of the local media guys are just like her unfortunately
Theiry has no idea what she’s looking at and it’s sad that she got the ESPN gig. There are so many more qualified people on the street who can’t get that job.
There is no doubt we are in an era of free for all sports reporting where unqualified people are in a position to voice opinions that are no better than random views. What they have in their favor is access to the team practice and players.
What I found most alarming is how outraged Curley sounded over Goffs #38 ranking by NFL players. Is it remotely possible that players have a better understanding of Goffs performance than Curley? In Curley's defense, he is far from alone in his perception of Goff in the media.
