It seems that there is a buzz about Goff this year that is very positive.
You hear if from the coaches and numerous players. Heck everyone but Joe Curly seems to be buzzing about Goff.
After last season it was clear the Goff was a franchise QB and that the Rams hit a home run drafting him. I know there are many that believe we should have taken Wentz and that opinion is okay. What is important is that after years of searching we finally have a franchise QB and he looks like he will be in the upper echelon of QB's for the next 10+ years.
He was really young when drafted but his now starting to physically mature so that continues to help his performance
He has gone from understanding the McVay offense to mastering his offense. That is a huge plus.
He has developed as a leader and done so at a very young age.
The tools around him are better this year and he is more comfortable with those tools. Very huge plus.
Just how good Goff will be is still to be determined but we know he is already really good, a QB you would love to have on your team. What I find most exciting is thinking about how good he still may become. I expect a jump in performance this year and maybe even a big jump in performance. That puts him near the top. His naysayers seem to give all credit to McVay who doesn't even throw the ball but name one great QB how plays in a bad offensive scheme and is successful.
Goff versus Wentz may always be a discussion but they may go down as the most successful top 2 QB picks ever. Heck in a few years we may be talking about them as 2 of the best in the NFL after Brady & Brees retire and Rodgers is old.
So as fans we should all get excited about the buzz around Goff who does have areas where he needs to improve to move into that upper upper echelon of the leagues QB's but it is time to start anticipating and embracing that move upwards with him. It should be a fun ride.
