You’re kinda moving the goalposts a little bit here.
You say other successful teams fit top 10 salaries into 60% of cap, but it’s okay if Rams spend 60% plus on their top 8 players.
Another thing. Both Goff and AD are gonna cost more than $20 million per. Way more. Like $22 million plus for AD and $30 million plus for Goff. Those 2 alone will gobble up over 25% of the predicted cap total by 2020.
Cap math realities are unforgiving, even when we try to ignore some of them.
Look, I want to sign both, myself. But we mustn’t forget that we will have other studs that we will really want (and need) to extend, too.
Cap management has many moving parts, maybe 53 of them. Which ones are we willing to sacrifice in order to make ginormous extensions for a couple at the top? Put another way, superstar salaries, at some point, can actually cost us wins.
