First off I never said he was asking for opt out(this is what the rest of the sports world is calling "player control" these days),
I stated not knowing if it were true and I also said the Rams want to sign him for the least amount possible, but do not think
they would "lowball' him ,though they could very well be, but all they need to do is look at the market as you say to know
the going rate these days. We do not know of any of the details of the deal being discussed and won't until he's signed.
And the opt out is something the NBA players use to keep player control of not only where they play but allows them to get pay
raises every time they opt out. The NFL players have been talking about this recently and starting with" rumors" of AD last year
and just today a "rumor" of A. Rodgers wanting that type of deal going forward. The owners do not want that and will most likely push not to give in
when the CBA comes due in 2021. And I know the players didn't strike but the head of the player's union has already made noise about doing it this time.
We shall see how it all shakes out in a couple years.
