Starting play immediately after the Super Bowl to me is a very bad decision. (At least if their goal is to have lots of viewers.)
At least basing on my experience, by the time the Super Bowl is over I am a little worn out by professional football. I love the NFL and kind of hate the offseason, but I don't start craving football for at least 6 weeks after the SB has been played. By then I would be ready to watch an interesting developmental league play some games.
I think an April 1st start date would make a lot more sense - let them play their championship game shortly before NFL offseason games start.
On the other hand, if their goal is to be a farm system for the NFL then maybe this schedule makes sense. Let the players who shine and get picked for the NFL have a bit of time to rest before training camp.
