I do evaluate media guys on their competency. Some are much better than others.
Fair enough BUT it's going to be a rare guy who pumps up a 2nd year qb who didn't live up to his numbers in the playoffs.
Give em time.

How about Dan Orlovsky? He was pumping up Goff big time on NFLC. I think Louis Riddick is another, I'm sure there are others. But the majority aren't. Maybe for the reasons you gave. But the good evaluator looks beyond one playoff game and are able to project based on many factors.
Orlovsky was a Ram, he knew Goff. So when others who haven't been through training camp with him hear him, they need time and distance to figure out he's not just being a homer.
I am not sure you DO look beyond 1 playoff game plus 4 other top tough games. Taken as a whole, those games do pose questions.
We think Goff and the Rams will answer those questions, but not everyone is obligated to. They can sit and wait and see what happens.

How would you be expected to know what I look beyond or not?
Well, I wasn't talking about you personally. That's something I do, I use the "general you" instead of the "specific you." As in "sometimes when you want to make a point you use the general `you'." The more formal version of that is to say "one": "I am not sure one DOES look beyond" etc. As stated that means I am making a claim. My claim is that I don't think a legit view of Goff
does overlook those 5 games (including the playoff game). He wasn;t consistently ready for games that tough. So to me it's legit if nationals account for that stuff and so are more reserved about him until he proves otherwise. Now I assume that with seasoning he will step up more consistently in games like that. But a national reporter isn't obligated to accept that argument
