When Goff starts tearing it up this year, and the media catches on, I will be rolling my eyes at those "experts" as they act like it makes perfect sense. And then I'll laugh as Rams fans revel in statements from buffoons like Schrager and LaCanfora, like "did you hear what so and so said about Goff?"
I am just not one of those who holds it against the nationals that they don;t see what Goff is yet.
He hasn't shown them yet.
Remember nationals do not watch every single game the way we do. No one watches all 16 games of all 32 teams. There are other stories. So what do they know of Goff? In the Rams 5 toughest games he was spottier than in the other, less challenging games.
I count their toughest games as ones played against teams with both a good offense and a top 10 defense. That would be Jax, Minn, N.O., Phil, and Atlanta.
Not only did the Rams win only 2 out of 3 of those, but Goff in particular was not up to his own 2017 standard in those games. He played well against N.O, played well most of the game against PHil but the offense failed to put the game away with time to do it in the end (that's not all on the offense, it was the defense too, but still, right now the question is, what do nationals know about Goff). So I don't count the Phil game. He was below his own standard against Jac, Minn, and what's especially visible to the nationals, also against Atlanta.
So 2 things. 1: we're homers. 2. we saw every game so we know more than the nationals. We can rightfully expect Goff to step up and a more seasoned offense (if it stays healthy) to do better in tough games like that.
And when Goff does as expected step up, and does as expected do better in tougher AND more
nationally visible games like that, here's what I expect the nationals to do.
Change their minds.
So you won't be hearing anything from me that sounds like a vindictive homer rubbing it in and gloating at the blindness of the nationals who should have seen this coming. I don't think it's really like that.
Naw it's simple, Goff didn't show everything he had to to convince people, and when he does, they will change their minds. Yawn.
In other words there's no story here.
