I do think its a tad bit premature. Walsh is arguably the greatest coach of all time. Let's give McVay at least another year or two.
There is one thing I find particularly underrated.
Through all the hype we've been experience this offseason, the thing that I find most perplexing is how people are missing the possibility of Goff exploding this year.
In the 2nd year of McVay's offense, Goff and all his weapons should should take another step up. But when you look at fantasy rankings of QBs, Goff is rated way down the list. I've seen him listed between 14th and 17th. Keep in mind he finished 9th last year (in my league) and sat the last game. All these so called experts are missing the boat, IMO. In the early rankings this year, I've seen Goff listed behind guys like Mahommes, Garoppolo, and Mariota. I don't see that at all. Goff will throw at least 30 TDs this year.
When Goff starts tearing it up this year, and the media catches on, I will be rolling my eyes at those "experts" as they act like it makes perfect sense. And then I'll laugh as Rams fans revel in statements from buffoons like Schrager and LaCanfora, like "did you hear what so and so said about Goff?"
