I agree about reality. Then...it depends on which you think is the reality and which position is the overwrought emotion.
Donald can force a trade.
If it were me and I thought the team was going to hold me hostage to a bad rookie contract compounded with lowball tag numbers, that's what I would do. Is that emotion or intelligent self-interest based on reality? I think it's the latter.
Rams would face getting nothing for him.
Oh and a reminder. Donald is not the only player to enter into negotiations for an extension after year 3, which is a CBA guaranteed right for first rounders.
He is however the only one so far not to receive an extension.
At a certain point, there's a risk to the Rams looking band. To their own players among others. It's bad business.

Tell that to Mack, OBJ and other first rounders from his draft class that have outplayed their contracts and have not extended yet....Donald isn't alone here.
