Although I believe some of this is on Demoff the NFL should have just allowed the Rams to change to the old uniforms from the jump. The problem is and as max has pointed out Demoff preferred the blue and white concept.
Honestly, I think they would have fewer issues if they kept the old uni in the meanwhile than they do now with the mismatched helmet and jersey.
I think people would have understood if the team said, new uni comes with the new stadium.
While I agree that they made a mess of things, I still believe the good people of LA have a strong preference for the throwbacks over the STL colors.
I'm not sure why they botched things up so badly. But the push for white and blue by Demoff was a dumb idea when you consider the resulting look when mixed with the old colors.
And that clearly made matter worse. At this point, the horse is out of the barn. Now we got this push by the fans and media to use the throwbacks for the next 2 years. Demoff and company created this mess. Now, if the NFL says go ahead an use the throwbacks, the Rams may have a big headache in 2020 when they want to rebrand and the fans want to keep the throwbacks.
Not quite the way it happened.
The Rams (Demoff) petitioned the league to allow them to wear the blue and yellows as soon as it was announced they won the race to LA.
League denied them that, so Demoff used a loophole in the rules and changed the color of the decal(horns) and pants to at least try to mimic the 60's Rams while they wait out the stupid two year rule....they changed the uniform while leaving the "jersey" alone.
Most people are happier with that then the StLouis blue n gold at least.
They only had to wear the ugly blue jersey twice last year and it looks like they might not have to wear it at all this year....it's not the end of the world.
