I think you are confused by the first round rookie contracts....all first rounders are eligible to renegotiate after 3rd year.

right to ask for that. But that does not mean they all do it. In fact most don;t.
Mack did not elect to renegotiate for an extension last year. As I understand it there were no negotiations for an extension between Mack and Oakland last year. The negotiations started this year.
