Rams didn't exactly open their pocketbooks for players in those days.
Not so sure about that, Jimmy Jones, Chris Miller, Shane Conlan, those were big names back then, Again, in 94 I agree, but before that I believe Knox got the players he wanted, the issue was, his DC of many years Tom Catlan decided to stay in Seattle and he lost Ernie Zampese to the Cowboys after the 93 season. In the end his DC was George Dyer and his OC was Chick Harris. It was just the end of the road for Knox and I believe they gave him total support in 92 & 93 and it was easy to write, they did not want to win, but the talent was bad even later and Knox along with John Becker need to share some of the blame.
BTW, who did the Antichrist John Shaw recommend to Georgia for hire, he recommended that she hire Mike Holmgren, however, Georgia overruled him because CR always told her, it was a mistake letting Knox go. Shaw was right about Holmgren and Dick Vermeil, proving once again even a broken clock is right twice a day, in Shaw's case, twice in 30 years.
Knox had lost his mojo when it came to personnel.
The idea that Georgia and Shaw stripped the team of talent in order to facilitate a move really doesn;t hold up.
Knox was just not doing that good a job.
And his hire, John Becker, continued doing poorly after Knox. Vermeil dismissed him.
One of Georgia's biggest mistakes/bad moves was firing Klosterman in I think 83 or during 82.
