...about 3 weeks ago, I was doing a fanspeak mock draft just for fun, and I drafted Noteboom.
I didn't post it. I was just fooling around, and trying to see how I could get the most out of what picks the Rams had.
I don't think I took him with the 3rd round pick, though, I believe that was OO. Noteboom came in the 4th.
I ended up with Noteboom, because I was looking for a player that could, at least potentially, become a LT to replace Whit.
In reading about Noteboom, it seemed like the technique and feet were there, and what he needed was strength. Most of the other tackles in the 3rd and later rounds were ROT's only, or had some big question marks. Noteboom seemed to have a high ceiling.
But there we go with that "potential" thing that Snead likes. As far as I'm concerned, that's ok in the 3rd round, not so much in 1 or 2.
The odds are against ANY 3rd rounder. After seeing what Cromer did with the Ram oline last year, I'm more than willing to see what he and the strength coach can do with Noteboom in about 3 years. That's where Hav and Brown were last year, in their 3rd year.
My expectations for this draft are low. But I'm happy with the way they already spent that capital.
So it's a no-lose situation for me.
