for drafting as comparing to the rest of the league is pretty good. That part I agree with as some very good talent was drafted.
But, largely disagree that there could be any justification for using a #2 pick for a high risk development project that didn't even play in a playmaker role that if you fell short, the player could still contribute. i.e. pash rushers can rotate in, WRs, RBs can get on the team for depth, but OL at Left Tackle, you have to nail. There is no playing 2 people at the left tackle position. There is no rotating at that positon. You have to HIT.
Than this particular guy was nowhere near ready and nobody had any idea if he could be developed or not. Than if you do develop and he happens to be productive on the last half of his first contract, you have to try to sign him on his second contract. In the meantime, while trying to develop the player, the team is held hostage as the offense has to be dummied down.
To me, how anybody, and I get it, so called experts felt the pick was good, could justified the rational, is stunning. It made absolutely NO SENSE.
I think it is a worse pick than Lawrence Phillips is how bad I believe it was. I believe because of the value of that asset #2 in the draft and being able to get entire drafts with that kind of pick or a pair of 1's and 2's, that it is the worst pick in RAMS history. I know there are bigger flops that Robinson, but I don't know if the value ratio on what you could get and what you got for the asset is anywhere near as bad as this pick.
