Trading this year's draft picks for 2019 picks will get you more value but one of the reasons NFL execs don't do that more is because there's no guarantee they'll be around in the future.
NFL = Not For Long.
Snead is one bad Rams season away from being on the hot seat again.
As far as the comp for vet players, their salaries factor into that a lot. It's about more than just talent.
For example, if the Rams held on to AO and Quinn, Talib and Suh wouldn't be on the team since they wouldn't have been able to afford them.
So in those trades, the Rams are getting cap space; the other team is losing cap space.
That is a major exaggeration statement dz..I'm on record saying as of today April of 2018, Trader Les in ranked in my Top 3 GM's but he can fall to the bottom 3rd of the NFL GM's in a blink.
My blink meant It would take at least 2 consecutive off-seasons of of Free Agent signing blunders and Bad Drafts to quantify Les being back on the Hot Seat.
Les would have to blow chunks bad with this seasons 2018 F/A's and draft picks along with next seasons 2019 moves before he's even considered to be on the hot seat.
Even if Snead blows it with the 2018 F/A's and and draft picks along with the 2019 F/A's and draft picks, he will get one more year 2020 to save his ass.
The earliest Les Snead would be fired is in 2021.Trader Les has become a legend in the NFL ranks even with his documented flaws. Snead will be the Rams GM for the entire season of 2020 and won't be fired or released at anytime before that unless he asks for his release.
If I'm wrong you can bump this post the day he's fired and I will never bring up another GM opinion again.
