The owners and coaches are going to demand much more flexibility and time with players, and especially with QBs, in the next CBA. And one of the major reasons is what this article quotes. In some ways the draconian cuts in practice time and what can occur in those practices diminishes the value of the rookie salary scale. It was one of the dumbest moves (and there have been many) that Goodell ever made to agree to such harsh restrictions, essentially allowing the players union to dictate player practices.

I think the Union knows that this is going to be a red line for the owners who will demand significantly less union control over practices because it so severely hampers player development. I get reasonable limitations because some coaches would run the guys into the ground, needlessly. But what exists now is beyond silly; it is negative all the way around especially for the younger guys.
