he won't kill you because he hustles and is smart, but he will never give us the pure rush needed off the edge. He cannot cover well and does not have elite pass rush skills. 3 of his sacks the QB ran into him... again, he's not terrible, but we are talking about wanting to win a Super Bowl. There are degrees of skill and he lacks he skill to beat good tackles. I have never been one who pines for Quinn, trading him is fine if we needed to same money and find a better scheme fit. But Longacre has the same negative scheme fit as Quinn (lacks coverage) and lacks the positives.
My suggestions are not that we needed to keep Quinn, but that we needed to upgrade if he were gone. Longacre is not an upgrade. He is a converted DE who is a hustle-type who lacks athleticism.
We need to hit a home run on 3rd round to get a potentially great edge rusher. It cannot be done with 3 tackles
