A coach like McVay will never stop trying to improve his offense and he still wants his stud TE for his system. Now that guy may or may not be on the roster currently but if he’s not he will get one at some point. He also knows there is at least somewhat of a void with Sammy leaving. That void may or may not be currently on the roster, but if it isn’t he will fill that hole at some point. The OL is always a work in progress and he Knows Whitworth is on borrowed time. I’m not saying all these pieces will be heavily addressed immediately with big free agents or high draft picks but I feel McVay is far from satisfied with his offense and will continue to strengthen any areas he sees as weak areas.
With that being said, I feel McVay and company will prioritize the defense for the most part right now and Phillips will be heavily involved in this upcoming draft.
If the Rams were to sign another top defensive free agent, it wouldn’t shock me to see McVay/Snead go after an offensive target earlier in the draft than some might expect. Between the ability to trade down from #23, acquiring more picks and the pending day 2 comp picks i see it very likely if there is an OL or offensive weapon he really loves.
