thanks, Flipper
again, the board is a treasure of prospects because of draft brothers.
this kid is crazy quick
and the cone was exceptional. must be one of the best?
started keeping an eye on the 3 cone from pro days.......
Montana State
Bryson McCabe
don't know this kid from anyone, but wasn't this Mo Alex's school?
fast, pretty great cone
Sooner
Okoronkwo
moving well at 6.84 for big guy
oddly, the Badet kid who ran 4.2 40? Only 7.14.
That comes back to guys who can fly, but can change directions on the fly. Why guys like Ike Bruce were so exceptional
Badger
Joe Ferguson, safety
Didn't run fast, didn't push anything, but puts up 6.62 in cone
So, how does one apply that kind of stat against play?
The Rams....such an odd grouping of 6th rounders; one wonders if they trade all of them, see these as values to hold on to? Say 3 or them?
3 cone is a solid test. I think it translates best for pass rushers and that’s true in your examples. Okoronkwo looks elite on some plays. His change of direction from snap to contact with an OT leaves them essentially punching air at times. He explodes out of that COD and closings with great burst (vert and broad jumps confirm that as well). His negative is not being able to turn that speed into power and a surprise lack of play strength. Patient NFL OT will eat him up a huge percentage of the time until he gets more powerful and stronger. Still a very good prospect.
Ferguson looked slow in games I saw. Ohio State stands out. Now they have a track team but the NFL doesn’t exactly slow down. I’d also say his 3 cone is a bit surprising, he struck me as stiff.
Troy Apke is the guy that I feel like was under the radar before testing but the testing rings true. Wasn’t playing up close to the line like most college safeties so his chances to make an impact were very limited.
McCabe is a guy I have nothing on. I do know Mo played at Utah State (he was one of my guys the year he was drafted...good or bad I don’t know).
