Blue and Gold
I will use an absurd example of this frustrating (sometimes) comment.
Poster 1: The Rams will trade Jared Goff for 3 #1s in before the draft
Poster 2: You are crazy
Poster 1: I think it will happen, it's what trade Les does
Poster 2: Where did you get that from?
Poster 1: Well, just you wait, I am sticking to my prediction
Poster 2: It's absurd
Poster 1: Well, let's agree to disagree
Poster 2: What?
Sometimes it does end a conversation well, when there is an honest disagreement on two reasonable points of view. But other times it's just words meaning that some people (no one specific, recent posts notwithstanding)
All of us need to learn a lot, no one knows enough. But if simply engaging in debate gets people upset, what is the point? We had recent long-term poster leave because of certain things. Not this, exactly, but tangentially related.
But agreeing to disagree does not elevate the absurd to reasonable in my opinion.
And none of us here have the power or right to tell people that they must, according to us, get to (our version of) the bottom of things and (according to our view) learn the game.
Sometimes conversations just don't work and the smart thing is to get out. Regardless of anyone's righteous judgment of the other's motives. Why? Cause if nothing else the rest of us don't want to read it.
No one else is interested in watching some the exchanges that follow. No one here is in a real position to tell others what they must think and the people who do act like that are among the biggest problems we have on the board. It leads to just plain awful conversations that are only going to get deleted anyway.
Did I just do what I am complaining about?
Gettin close to it I suppose.
So I will leave it at that.
