Just like a vet Olineman showed the others how it all works, and so the Oline improved drastically across the board, the same thing is needed at TE. I wouldn't mind a graybeard for a year like Ben Watson who is real leader from what I read and still has something left in the tank.
That said, I'd love for the Rams to get Jimmy Graham. In fact, if it meant that they could only afford Watkins OR Graham, I'd take Graham. He would thrive in McVay's offense.
