So Hammond is of the opinion that they go the developmental route at TE this year. I can see that happening since at least so far free agency doesn't seem to offer up much and if they're going to spend money on a pass catcher it's probably to keep Watkins. You can draft another TE in the middle rounds but what are the odds of that guy being more than their #3?
I can see Everett going from 16 to 35-40 catches in year two. The question is what about Higbee and Hemingway. Maybe for a year they do try to squeeze more out of these guys while shoring up other spots like CB, NT, OLB, the OL. Then if things don't look significantly better next December you go into 2019 with TE as a top 2 position priority (probably along with LT).
