I am planning to come to LA in April for the draft, I have read some trip adviser articles that make it sound like LA is a cesspool of crime and should be avoided at all costs. But of course I know there are unsavory places everywhere.
So my question is, Where should we stay in order to enjoy our stay and be close to the draft party venue as well as some interesting and fun things to do? Also where should we avoid? We do have family in Anaheim but I would much rather stay in a hotel with a nice bed instead of a sofa bed lol
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

The beach cities being mentioned, while affordable, won't provide you with a good cultural experience. If you want to visit museums, or take in a play or an opera, then I would stay in Pasadena, Beverly Hills, or Hollywood. You will also have access to good restaurants with more diverse choices of food than you will find at the beaches unless you consider staying in Santa Monica.
I personally liked the Marquis Hotel in Hollywood, and the Langham in Pasadena.
Cheers.
