I have been saying all along that if 1 of the 2 NTs fall, they may be too tempting to pass on. If you have been reading me.
Da'Ron Payne and Vita Vea are both NTs that would fit exactly what the Rams are missing. A NT that not only can take up spacem but has the ablity to push the pocket. I will stand by my comment 3 months ago that Payne may be one of the strongest DT to come out in a while. I guess the combine might prove me right or wrong if bench pressing 225 is what determines that.
Vea is a freak of nature. I usually don't try to get into hyperbole, but watch his bowl game. You will see him make an OPEN FIELD TACKLE on the punt returner. At 350 lbs. He beat everyone down the field and a 200 lb returner couldn't juke him.
They are long gone though. Get yourself mentally prepared for a CB, until I tell you otherwise. LOL.
PS, never buy bred heifers, they calve at the worst possible times.
2 years younger then Vea and flashes very similar ability. Arms may be a bit short but he demanded attention and is surprisingly explosive as a one gap defender. Violent vs doubles but maintains awareness and can disengage to make the tackle. Can be a fireplug or push the pocket. Hands are active and he gets them in passing lanes. Winds up on the ground more then I prefer but I think he still has some baby Huey-ness physically to grow out of...when he does though!
Edit - I see no issue with him in the 1st round but with the lack of any hype you can steal him later most likely
