Yeah I just mean I think they wanted to do a "veteran signs contract extension" thing for the cameras and he was the one they were closest to signing so they did it. Not that they did it purely for show.
I don't think McVay just decided not to use him. It seems to me just square peg/round hole. Other than jet sweeps and playing backup RB his skill set didn't fit. And I hate to say it but I doubt he had the mental acumen for that offense. And once he crapped the bed as a punt returner his fate was sealed. It seemed to me they gave him one final chance in the week 17 game vs. SF, as sort of a preseason type situation, and unfortunately he fell short there again.
Someone will use him. But LA is not the place for him.
Well see to me, the square peg/round hole thing and "decided not to use him" amounts to the same thing.
To use TA the way he was in 2015 would mean changing up how McVay normally did things. And he didn't draft TA and there was no compelling reason on his part to change things just to use TA a certain way. That's not even a complaint. Sometimes players don't fit into coach's plans. That's just how stuff goes sometimes.
We just disagree on whether it was reasonable to give him that deal after 2015.
And that's cool, right?
