I have admitted many times on this board that my biggest weakness in judging players who I think will become 'great', (not necessarily HOF or even Pro Bowl but very very good), is in overestimating raw athleticism and believing it should be enough.
No few number of players of this ilk have disappointed me in the recent past. NOT SAYING REYNOLDS WILL BE ONE OF THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (enough explanation points?
)
I continue making this mistake for this reason.... 1) being a great athlete and being a great football player do not necessarily equate and 2) I will never stop thinking that with great coaching a truly gifted athlete can make the grade. (not true, but I will continue to believe it).
So what I'm saying is... because of recent muffs.... Reynolds worries me. Obviously that's on me and not him. Reynolds, to me, has what it takes... we'll see. - JamesJM
