Don't listen to what Bellicheck says, and don't take your eye off him for a second. That's the moral of BB's life story.
Well, Josh McDaniels has apparently picked up the mantle.
There will be repercussions from this even if they are not apparent outside the inner NFL football circle.
It's 4 weeks before FA, and 3 weeks before the Combine, and the Colts have to start their HC search all over again!!!
They have hired several assistant coaches, even a DC, based on McDaniels' word. Now what are they going to do when the HC candidate (of course) wants to choose his own assistants?
Even if they get this done in a couple of weeks, that leaves the HC just about no time whatsoever to even learn anything about his roster, let alone work with the GM for the Draft and FA.
But truly: if you are an HC candidate, do you want the job with the Luck situation in absolute limbo? You don't dare draft a QB high because that says Luck is on his way out. Yet if you don't get someone who can at least be competent at the position you risk another horrible season if Luck is sidelined for a long time again.....or forever. And, who decides?
What a mess.
Mr. McDaniels: you better have one heck of a long successful career with the Pats because I don't think your options are going to be very large for the next several years. The fallen dominoes you have left behind you won't be forgotten or resolved with an emotional apology.
