I'm really not sure why we're comparing the two. Pretty different players and one is a 9th year guy and one is a rookie. The 9th year guy should be better.
But living in Boston I can say a couple things about Amendola. For his first 3+ years here he was not a fan favorite... That
finally changed in the 4th quarter of last year's Super Bowl when he caught the TD and then later a 2 point conversion. There have always been annual "maybe he should get cut" talks and he's taken several pay cuts to stay here. Hogan and Cooks were brought in partly because they weren't thrilled with DA. He was supposed to be their 4th or maybe even 5th WR this year.
Now he does have really good hands and has had one of the lowest drop rates in the NFL the past three years. And he has filled in admirably for Edelman in the slot and played very well this postseason. That's all very true. But coming into the year he was probably expected to catch about 20-25 passes this year.
