In the playoffs makes sense to ME because of the stakes involved, its essentially a one game playoff.
Lose and you're out so I think they should be more lenient in the playoffs when the intensity and ramifications ramp up ten fold in the playoffs.
In an NFL game you have 7 officials, so if two of them rate highly, and 5 don't you should overlook that and award the entire group in?
I don't agree with that, the best of the best should get awarded.
People quite often IMO ignore the fact that the NFL game is the most difficult to officiate in all of sports.
So many moving parts moving at such a high rate of speed lends itself to a higher degree of difficulty.
A field judge or side judge for example on a pass play down the sidelines has so many factors to consider.
He's watching the play between the receiver and defender, watching the catch, the receivers feet in bounds are out with possession etc.
Things are gonna be missed.
It is not an exact science IMO and due to the nature of the game, errors are gonna be made..
Its a very difficult task at best and why replay was invented.
They need to simplify some of the rules and improve replay IMO.
Best,
