Is it just me, or doesn't it seem like every year the officiating gets
worse in the playoffs?
They have officials working in TEAMS throughout the preseason and regular season, but then pull out the super star referees for the playoffs. Officiating, like team sports, is a collaborative activity -- the best team isn't necessarily composed of the most super stars. I'm hard-pressed to think of a activity in which this approach leads to the best performance. (Which is not to say one doesn't exists... but it ain't NFL officiating!)
The NFL should be striving for officiating consistency from pre-season through the Superbowl. This idea that "they should let they play" during the playoffs is nonsense. The best teams of officials should should work the playoffs.
