No way a 1st time HC who's in his 30s is dictating these drafts.
AND that's not how the Rams process works anyway. NO ONE dictates them.
Here's what we know about the Rams draft process---and every party involved plus some outside reporters has described this process several times at length.
The Rams drafts are basically collaborative. Snead is not an overlord GM, he's a different kind of GM---basically the chief personnel advisor. The way they set up drafts is to meet a few weeks before the draft and build a ranked board through consensus, with coaches and personnel people all involved. Then on draft day they stick to the board.
Snead sees the GM's role as finding out what kind of players fit the offensive and defensive systems. That means he and the scouts have to listen closely to the offensive and defensive coaches so they can be clear about what a system fit looks like at different positions.
It was all done the same way under Fisher, though chances are since Fisher had more experience drafting than either McVay or Snead, he had strong ideas about who he liked in the first and 2nd rounds. Even then it was still collaborative.
So no one is THE guy who is responsible for a draft.
If they had a good draft it's because they scouted well, communicated well, and came up with a good consensus board.
Oh and McVay inherited
a lot of talent or they would not have won this year.
So am I confident in Snead? Absolutely. The Rams draft process works and he's a huge part of that. It worked before with Snead as a huge part of it and it's obvious it's working now too.
