Unnamed team sources report the Rams will play a 17th regular season game in 2018. While many in the organization wanted the game played during the normal bye week, ownership demanded it be played during the week just prior to the playoffs. The source told reporters that the decision was based on a thread of posts on a HERD forum, a fan site for the Rams. After reading that post management contacted the Cleveland Browns who were also aware of the posts and agreed to play Wednesday night just prior to wildcard weekend. Cleveland was willing to play the extra game so they could “stay sharp” between seasons. The source reported that McVey considered two extra games so the team would be extra sharp, but decided they would just make sure they were playing wildcard weekend and then then add the midweek game. It is believed its midweek game will be played secretly in Antarctica because the NFL has no authority to stop the game there. Rumors around the NFL are that all teams will work to be in the Wildcard games rather than have bye weeks and home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Belicheck who was red faced and appeard embarrassed by his blunder said, “We really screwed up this season, but never again!” Patriots coaches believe the real sweet spot for the playoffs going forward is the #3 seed unlike any other teams in the history of the NFL. The Patriots are known for being at the forefront of innovation in the NFL, but thanks to the HERD Board it looks like the Rams and Browns will now have the edge next season.
