When you forfeit games, you lose an edge. Some want to compare it to a bye week, but it is different because you don't have a game to still play in bye week to create this indifference lack of mental edge.
You ever take a nap in the middle of the day and maybe the nap was a little too long. You kind of have a little fog and are a little slower and lack an edge.
That is what the forfeit in week 16 did. At a minimum the team should have prepared like they were going to play. You could have pulled them all early possibly.
I was an assistant coach in high school once and our schedule was a little messed up at the end of the year. We got moved up a class and played a week later in post season tournament so we had a extra week off with no game to prepare for that week. That week off killed us and we got upset in the first round from a team we had beaten 2 out of 3 times earlier in the season.
