He's probably best characterized as "competent". His last few gigs, however, haven't turned out very well.
Most recently as Indy's QB coach, as the Georgia OC in the year Richt was fired, and as the Ram's OC (no description necessary), he doesn't have much in the way of accomplishments to write home about.
I would love to have been a fly on the wall in Seattle's offices to better understand why such a highly thought of franchise with a star QB would hire such a well-traveled, middling coach for such an important position.
Maybe the called Fisher for his opinion.
Doubt they had conversation with Fisher, but I relaize that was tongue and cheek....IMO, they feel Schottenheimer has overseen very good running games, he did that in New York with the Jets and the Rams ran the ball decently with Jackson getting over 1000 yards in 2012 and Zac Stacy running for 973 yards
in 2013 followed by the triumphant of Mason, Stacy & Cunningham going well over 1000 in 2014 so that is what Seattle is looking at a Coordinator that has had success coaching up a running game, however, what they missed is Shotty is totally one dimensional and does not posses a creative bone in his body..Brian Schottenheimer will be to Pete Carroll what Larry Marmie was to Mike Martz IMHO.
