Three remembrances:
Dick Enberg: I remember when he started with the Rams and wondering who is this guy? He had an immediate impact on Rams broadcasts and was saying his trademark "Oh My" before he became nationally known. Somewhere I read that when the Rams were looking for a replacement for Bob Kelly, Enberg, who was an instructor at Cal State Northridge, sent the rams a play by play tape that he made while watching a game on TV. He sent to the Rams front office and the rest is history!
Vin Scully: When I was in the Navy I was on a Cruiser and as part of a battle group we were doing an extended period "line duty" in the Gulf of Tonkin. I remember being a bit homesick (on line for 45 Days) and between watches I went down to my compartment where someone had the Stars & Stripes radio channel on and they were broadcasting Vin Scully calling a Dodgers/Giants game! I remeber that I was more homesick than ever! Vinny brought tears to my eyes!
Chick Hearn: Before the Lakers came to L.A. Chick was a very popular evening sports reporter on the 6:00 news in L.A. for NBC channel 4. As a kid I remember my dad liking Chicks sports segment. When the Lakers came to L.A. in 1961 They hired Chick....The rest is History!
