I was down on him last year. And I'm still not sure whether he is a good QB or a franchise QB. I know McVay helps. And weapons help.
BUT.
When I watch Trubisky, Kizer, Paxton Lynch and etc. I think he is definitely a QB capable of having a long and good career. A winning career.
I think Wentz is definitely a franchise QB. I'm just not sure about Goff. Is he a Marino or Fouts or Brady or Montana? Probably not.
Would I be happy with a Stafford, Ryan or Rivers? Sure.
I could be wrong. Although an avid fan who understands the obvious. I am far from an expert. Just my thoughts. Peace my brothers' and sisters'
I don't take the terms "franchise qb" to mean the same as "elite qb." All the latter are the former, but not all of the former are the latter.
To me a franchise qb is simply this--a continuing starter you build around and show every intention of keeping as the continuing starter.
That can just be a good to very good qb like Eli was, or Flacco, or Stafford, etc. Doesn't have to be an elite guy.
In terms of that definition to me Goff is ALREADY a franchise qb. In terms of his ceiling, he's still developing. So we don't know yet on that. But to me, I already thought he was the Rams franchise qb within 2-3 games at the start of the season this year.
