Excellent read. Thanks for posting, max.
Watkins is still a bit of an enigma to me.
Clearly, he has benefited from working with McVay, Goff, and his new Ram teammates.
But it is troubling to hear that he still doesn’t fully grasp this O and it’s concepts. Then again, sounds like that may be coming along.
But here’s the thing. Soon the Rams must make a decision as to whether to even offer Watkins an extension. Watkins has 3 games plus the playoffs to make his case.
Potential is a fine thing, but real time production is the name of the game. Woods and Kupp are really producing. Why shouldn’t Watkins produce and THEN be given the extension?
Do we want to repeat the Tavon mistake by first giving the player the money then hoping to see some elite type production? My experience in the business world tells me that the production comes first, THEN the promotion and/or the money follows.
I would love to have an elite #1 WR in Watkins on this team as a weapon. But so far, honestly, Watkins hasn’t been either elite or our #1 WR.
There.
I said it.
