Revenue went up most of his tenure.

I suppose there are plenty of other reasons to dislike Goodell and the state in which he's left professional football, but under his supervision revenue is massively up, and teams have like, at least doubled in value the last decade.

Probably his biggest misstep was dabbling in politics? Voluminous rule changes? I don't know, I'm not well-versed in NFL dynamics. But the owners (outside of Jerruh) have a good reason to be supportive, even if the average fan (especially the long-time fan) does not.
