I agree completely. When you're strong at LT and C the rest seems to come together. Collectively that starting 5 has been excellent. The Rams smartly looked at upgrading their bottom 3-4 positions on offense from a year ago and two of those were at LT and C. I agree with restocking the OL through the next two drafts. Ideally they take a LT in the 3rd or 4th round that can be a backup next year and learn from Whitworth. Go 1st or 2nd round pick there in 2019 if necessary.
And sure, they do need to get some players to train to take over for C, LG, LT, all are old . . .
But with Whit, he does bend his knees like he used to, but he's effective and collectively not having trash up front for the QB to have to step into when he throws is great. Something we have not had since the days of Timmerman/McCollom and the like.
Whit is a short setter, a guy that takes on rushers closer to the LOS, and usually doesn't medium or deep set, he's a slide stepper and darn good at it. He's not perfect, but neither was Jackie Slater. And it's nice to know that the QBs blind side is protected better than it has been since Orlando
