The
one thing Fisher does well is to get his guys to play with a gigantic chip on their shoulder in certain situations. Think of the whole "Look at them! They're celebrating over there!" speech in SB34. Of course, this attitude has lots of downsides as well. It has a certain victimhood mentality to it that also lets guys feel like they're off the hook in a losing performance.
Anyway, Fisher was able to get the Rams "up" for the Seahawks on a pretty consistent basis.
McVay, on the other hand, has pretty much failed the rivalry games so far.
- vs WAS, McVay's former team -- LOSS
- vs SEA, division winner and rival -- LOSS
- at MIN, against former Rams QB -- LOSS
You listen to what he says in all the pressers and it's just about "playing a really good team" next week (whoever that is), taking things one game at a time, and just executing and "playing our game." I believe this is the better and more consistent way to approach things overall. However, unless you're a truly elite club that really can just outplay anyone, there are times when it would be nice to have a little more emotional intensity about certain opponents.
It's definitely possible for the Rams to win in Seattle on 12/17, but I'm not counting on it.
