Alyo, two questions:
1 - in which round will you target the different positions given depth of talent?
This is a tough question, because there are layers of talent. If we want a "starting nose tackle" ... that's round one, and likely gone before we pick. I have 3.
Starting CB with the possibility of being a shut down level CB ... between picks 20 and 50 ... with some possible sliding/underrated players lasting until the end of the 4th.
Rush backer ... anywhere in the draft this will be BPA. Great year for this position.
Grooming OT ... 3rd -5th ... A guy that will likely be a swing backup and could develop into a starting Left or right OT.
Starting ORT ... top 50.
Safety ... anywhere in the draft, great year for safety.
5 tech ... rotational ... 6th
LB, rotational ... 6th
Starting Center ... late first to early 3rd ... backups all the way down, good year for bulk at the position.
2 - which particular players do you think the Rams should target?
1st round I'm only targeting the top 3 Nose tackles ... after that I'd trade down into the second because the talent is basically a mixed bag. Wilkins, Vea, and Lotulelei ...
3rd ...
Chukwuma Okorafor OT He needs a redshirt year.
Brandon Oliver CB
Uchenna Nwosu rush Lber He's listed lower now, but my bet is that he climbs in postseason ...
If Simmie Cobbs or Allen Lazard falls this far I'd really have to think about drafting them.
4th
Secondary NT ... kid from Bama or Lorenzo Neal jr.
Im a big fan of MJ Stewart CB and they have him going later than this, which is crazy to me.
Porter Gustin LB
Marquis Haynes rush Lber may slide because he's only 230 ... I don't care he plays like he's 270 and will likely run 4.45
5th
OT Andrew Nelson Penn State.
S Igweubwike
Kenny Young LB
Tegray Scales LB
Lorenzo Carter if he falls
Sony Michel RB
DT Lacouture LSU
6th
RB will be great here ... I have a long list.
Bodies at 5 tech ...
OC Brian Allen MSU (younger brother of NFL player)
Falling WR ... Michael Gallup? Desean Hamilton? Marcel Ateman? Jordan Lasley?
More CBs ... the list is really long ... but I am attached to this being the second CB we draft, and I love Avante Maddox on Pitt ... who would be a slot CB.
QB Benkert from Virginia ... I like him.
This is all off the top of my head. there are, of course, many more.
