"Now, can he do it to the standard necessary for key late season games? We can't know that yet," - RFL
That's key, I agree. A few things:
So far I'd say he has succeeded but NOT without bumps... he HAS been stymied... his response was quick and good, so far.
For making the playoffs our remaining schedule is a tough one... but for enabling this team to improve, which includes McVay, it couldn't be better. I really can't see McVay and team able to continue the exact same degree of success in the remaining games against the better teams... BUT... I do see the Rams able to quickly learn, adapt, adjust, and keep the upward flow going.
Just to illustrate: Say they lose to the Vikes, (I know, I know, makes me ill even theorizing about that)... and then they meet them again in the playoffs... I think the edge swings and the Ram's grasp it. Problem is there are a number of "Vikings" ahead... each different, each offering the same obstacle. It is not unreasonable to allow for a somewhat weak W/L record in the remaining games yet a far better Ram team at seasons end.
But that said... right NOW if the Ram's go into any game, any 'good' opponent, well in the game going into the 4th I'm not sure there is any team in the NFC more likely to get the win.- JamesJM
