Running straight he has Left Right shiftiness but only in the direction he is running. Somehow he struggles to turn upfield on Jet sweeps not without nearly coming to a stop turning and then bursting forward. If he does not beat defenders to the edge he cannot cut up-field and force them to over pursue. Not sure if this is a recent limitation from injuries or what. He covers more yards sweeping sideways than he does running gaining the positive yardage that he can.
To be honest Gurley had the same problem last year but this year is cutting up field and not racing Sideline to sideline trying to get a tightrope run.
Copper is better at it. Woods is fantastic at it. Gurley is superb at it this year and I am betting Sammy can do it but Tavon no matter how many times he is able to anlge into a 2 or 3 yard game refuses or can't just turn it up field suddenly and fluidly.
It's the darndest thing. I never really noticed until this year. If we want more out of him why not get him into plays where he is facing up field? Facing upfield and open field. Perhaps that is why when he had his most effectiveness he is either standing still like in a relay or he is facing p field and in a position to run straight ahead.
We keep running the play we need to start getting more out of it or utilize someone who can. Also how about he get some of those passes like we throw to Gurley? Just spit balling.
