I get it that many here don't think TA is doing much for this team. And is vastly overpaid (who could disagree with that?).
But to somehow just extrapolate that a guy who hasn't practiced or played since he was signed in the off season is going to walk onto the field and perform better than TA? Are defenses going to pay attention to jet sweeps because Dunbar is in motion? Does Dunbar scare anyone? Is Dunbar and Gurley even likely to be on the field at the same time like Gurley and Austin often are? I seriously doubt it.
Besides, Gurley is a 3 down player and he wants to be.
I think one reason some nice lanes open up for Gurley is because often his running plays include a fake jet sweep to TA and the defense doesn't dare not account for it.
Further, although TA has been having trouble hanging onto punts (and for now has rightly had this assignment removed) once he gets it back together (and he will because he's returned punts forever), he ought to again return punts because he can do more with PRs than any other player on this team.
The Rams have to pay TA the money regardless of what he does. So benching him or releasing him this season is highly unlikely.
