It's more than receiver targets but you the gist. The biggest thing that stands out to me is that there are just some many more targets now than last year.
Gurley, Kupp, Watkins, Woods, Cooper, Higbee, Everett versus Jackson, Garcon, Crowder, Reed and Thompson. 4 WR/2TEs/1RB vs 3/1/1.
Do more targets mean better effectiveness? It's a rhetorical question. Is there something to be said for increasing targets/results based on familiarity and a bond between thrower and receiver? Does McVay have fixed roles instead of everybody runs every pattern so that the DC can get a feel for his tendencies?
Lots of questions without answers but provoking thought.
