. Goff has the technical, conceptual, and emotional acumen to be a starter for a long time in this league.

You have to be a subscriber to access the vids. Which is fine...it's perfectly readable without them.

I take Waldman's point though. You see the real Goff in how he responds to adversity in this game. He doesn't show refined veteran savvy yet but he does show he has the innate ingredients to be a franchise qb--ie. a longterm starter you build around.

Personally I get more out of that than I do out of long discussions of individual plays. That stuff is valuable and interesting, no question. But those are the trees and IMO this is the forest: the kid needs to develop and that will only come with experience, BUT he has the basic skills you need, both physically and emotionally/mentally.

In the last 5 games against Seattle the Rams won 3 when they had veteran qbs, and that's even #2 caliber qbs like Foles (who turned out to be a #2) and Keenum. Twice they beat the youngster, once as a rookie. This last game though shows him as a developing franchise qb. At the end of the day you add up his plays and he responds unblinking against the tough veteran defense of a tough divisional opponent. You can smooth his game out with experience and cut back on the mistakes and improve his ability to see options on plays quickly. That tough unblinking competitive mindset combined with very high caliber arm talent? You either have that innately, or you don't.

For a joke let me compare this to the scene from Men In Black where Will Smith's character takes the test to become a Man in Black. He seems to do everything wrong against slick, well-trained competition, but in spite of not looking perfect the whole way, at the end of the day he has the right stuff and they don't.

For one thing, Goff threw two picks, not one. Both bad.
