I'm seeing, now, what I expected to see game 1 of this year from him.
I remember the player I saw at WKY and knew he was out of sorts against huge competition last year as well as out of sorts in a terrible offense with a rookie QB.
Now he is learning to do what successful TEs do ...
1) Work the zone.
2) Exploit mismatches.
3) Win with their body.
4) Turn upfield quickly.
5) Do the dirty work on running plays.
He and Everett, in my opinion, are not the same player on the offense. There will likely be a day when Everett sees more targets and has a higher YPC. Everett is a WR that's 250. He can extend and be agile. He's still learning to trust his body against NFL competition.
But none of that will change the fact that on wheel routes and seam routes Higbee has a distinct advantage ... and that as a check down Higbee is a huge safe target to throw at.
