In McVay's three seasons in Washington the Redskins were 27th, 11th and 30th in red zone scoring. So a mixed bag. 21st, 15th and 9th in scoring offense overall.
People forget that for all his limitations, Schottenheimer's passing offense was nearly 50% in the redzone, at least when he had a starting caliber qb.
I think it's clear that McVay is a more dynamic coordinator than Schott (though I never bought the "Schott is bad" thing)....still, it's interesting that Schott was a better situational coordinator, and his redzone passing offense was top notch.
This is apropos of nothing. There is no "Schott v. McVay" war and what I say here does not mean I have a low estimate of McVay (quite the opposite).
It's just that it's funny how things can fall out sometimes in a complicated game like football.
